Paying for College 2008 Resource Guide
The Student Safety Hotline 410-396-SAFE (7233) now gives Baltimore City Public Schools students a safe and easy way to anonymously report violence, bullying, gang activity, and other safety concerns in their school communities. Trained staff will respond promptly. The hotline can also receive calls from parents and guardians, teachers, and other members of school communities. It is in operation 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

2009 National, State and Local Summer Programs for High School Students
This program places academically talented H.S. students (at least 16 yrs old, sophomores/ juniors) with interest in science & math in Dept. of Defense laboratories for an 8-wk period over the summer. This is an invaluable experience in the world of scientific research, with hands-on exposure to scientific & engineering practices not available in the HS environment. It is a paid apprenticeship ($2,000) and the students are assigned a scientist or engineer as their mentor. To apply online or get more information about the program: www.usaeop.com. Students must submit their transcript (minimum GPA 3.0) and teacher recommendation to the program director for consideration and daily transportation is the student's responsibility.

Are you a 15-18 year old student looking for a challenging summer job? Civic Works, Johnson Controls and the Student Conservation Association (SCA) are partnering to provide a unique outdoor service program to Baltimore youth. As a crew member, you will be employed by Civic Works and receive life skills training and other services before and after the program. Students will be participating in the program for seven weeks, beginning Monday, June 28, and ending on Friday, August 14. This includes a week of job training and ongoing educational field trips throughout the summer. Students must live in Baltimore and be at least 15 years old by 6/29/09 and not older than 19 on 8/14/09. You must be enrolled in high school or be a 2009 graduate. Application deadline is April 20, 2009.

FREE! The National Center for Health Marketing's Global Health Odyssey Museum is pleased to offer the 2009 CDC Disease Detective Camp (DDC). DDC is an academic day camp for students who will be high school juniors and seniors during the 2009-2010 school year. This year's Boys State program will be held at McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland from June 21-27. This year's Girls State program will be held at Salisbury University in Salisbury, Maryland from June 21-26.
